My first order of business this summer is to get my health in order. At the beginning of April I ended up in the hospital with Atrial Fibrillation. Since that time I have been back and forth to doctors' visits (mulitple) and classes to learn how to handle my condition.
I have changed two things in my life to control my condition:
1. I have basically eliminated salt from my diet except what already exists in the food I eat. I try to keep my daily sodium intake to 2000 mg. a day. Most Americans probably use at least twice to three times this amount.
2. I have also eliminated alcohol (for the most part) from my diet as well.
I am required to weigh myself daily to make sure I am not retaining water (which could mean major problems for my heart). Since weighing myself daily I have lost about 15 pounds. This is very exciting to me because I still need to lose about a 100 pounds and feel that I am now on the right track to better health!!
